Israeli Ambassador, Daniel Taub, Visits Bradford After George Galloway’s Comments

On Monday, Daniel Taub, the Israel ambassador to Britain, made a visit to the city of Bradford. He went to the city after George Galloway, the Bradford West MP, claimed that the constituency was an Israel free zone.

The Telegraph & Argus noted that Taub pointed out that he made the visit following an invitation from within its community. He added that he would engage in several meetings with faith leaders, councilors, and other groups.

In addition, the invitation arose from comments made Galloway that the city should change to an Israel free zone devoid of tourists, academics, goods, and services from Israel. According to Daniel Taub, his first impressions about Bradford were a city that has different attitudes compared to those advanced by Galloway.

Daniel Taub told the Telegraph & Argus that his sense, even from a brief visit, is that the city’s actual voice does not concur with George Galloway’s remarks. Bradford’s voice is that of inclusion. He said that it is an essential model for their region.

So far, British police have started an investigation against the Bradford West MP over the speech that resulted in a chorus of disapproval on social media after it was posted online. In the speech, Galloway said that they have proclaimed Bradford as an Israel-free zone. They reject the illegal, barbarous, savage state, which calls itself Israel. Speaking to Telegraph & Argus, Taub said that the real conflict was between the future and the past. Daniel Taub suggests that he should not be among the people who attempt to slide the region into the dark past, but join them in making a better future for the entire population in the region.

Galloway has a record of anti-Israel bigotry. He was dubbed a racist after storming out of a debate upon realizing that his opponent was of Israeli origin. Galloway said that he does not debate with Israelis. Moreover, he has openly aired anti-Israel conspiracy theories.

One of them is that Israel was orchestrating the unrest in Ukraine. In addition, he claimed that Israel had worked closely with Al-Qaeda by giving them chemical weapons. Later, he denied the comments despite of the remarks being recorded.
